We are a Christian family, that is, we believe Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the Son of God, who died on a wooden roman cross one day to pay the penalty for all our mistakes and came back to life three days later, defeating sin and death once and for all! We believe His eternal forgiveness and victory is free and available to those who believe in Him and believe Him. We believe the Bible is the Word of God, and we find His will in its pages.
God teaches us to help and care for those in need, not so that we can earn forgiveness, but because we have already been forgiven. In James 1:27 we learn that “true religion” is: “to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need” (AMP).
We believe God smiles whenever we follow faith with evidences of hope and love. Adopting is one such act, not one that makes us righteous, but one we get to join in and take part of, and one that every Christian, church or community of faith should encourage and celebrate!
There is also a much greater meaning behind adoption. In a way, adoption symbolizes the fact that God Himself is willing to adopt us as His children! The apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:15…
“So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” (NLT)
In other words, it is because of Jesus’ death on the cross that God has adopted us as His children, and now we get to call Him “Abba” (or “Dad”)! God has chosen to adopt us and He paid the price with the life of His Son Jesus, and now we live in constant thanksgiving of His love for us!
Here’s what we’ve come to understand: God is the authority when it comes to adoption. He is experienced in it, and has paid the most for it! Because His Spirit lives in us, it is of no surprise adoption was placed in our hearts and minds as a dream that turned into an idea, and an idea that turned into a journey, through which we will get to know and love our first child!
